Hunters Valley Riding Club

ABOUT THE CLUB

HVRC has been in existence since the early 1960s. Wickens Road now crosses the site of the original ring, which was used by the Fairfax Hunt as a starting place for their hunts. When Wickens Road and the adjoining roads were added, the ring was moved to the corner of Wickens and Aryness Drive, and a second, smaller ring was installed. There was a large cross-country course with fences, stone walls, and other assorted jumps, and the Field Hunter event was a popular class in the semi-annual horse shows. Since this area has been developed, HVRC now has access to a full-size dressage ring (located at 10514 Hunters Valley Road) and a large jumping ring that is adjacent to the CCT and Difficult Run near Gabrielson Gardens Park at the end of Hunters Valley Road.  There are still miles of trails for riding which were set aside for use when the Hunters Valley subdivision was developed by the Wickens family.

The club has year-round access to riding facilities, which includes the two riding rings, jumps, and miles and miles of trails.  The HVRC trail system connects to Fairfax County Park Authority trails, the W&OD horse trail running from Vienna to Leesburg, and the River-to-Rails trail running from the W&OD trail to Great Falls Park. The riding club also holds events for members and guests, including a twilight ride and bonfire, participation in the Vienna Halloween parade, a breakfast ride and picnic, the Horseless Horse Show community event, holiday caroling and ugly sweater ride, and various clinics and seminars as desired.  Limited lessons & boarding opportunities are available occasionally.  We’d love to have you join our community!
